An arty evening
This week's been kinda cool because through Couchsurfing I met up with a Croatian actress, Ines, who's been in Belfast performing a play at the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival. It turns out that she grew up with Goran Visnjic who plays Dr Luka Kovac in ER and he's a good friend of hers - WOW! I was kinda floored by that one! And sorry ladies, he’s spoken for – darn!

Anyway last night we decided to check out some of the festival events and got in for free on Ines’ artist pass. First of all we went to a play which sounded like it could be entertainingly quirky…but oh my word! It was woeful! Embarrassingly so. In fact we walked out just before the interval because there was only so much we could take – I could’ve done better acting and that’s saying a lot! So then we went to the Richard Hawley gig which was really great. He’s got an awesome voice – really rich and deep. His music reminds me of the likes of Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra and Paul Weller. It’s all pretty mellow, bluesy stuff with some great sweeping orchestral melodies.
